Whose on the Banner?

Update 2009:

Also added to the banner is a young Don Verbis in his WWII Navy Uniform and ancestor Petronella Burinskas.

People have been asking who is on the banner at the top of the page. The first figure in the foreground is an early portrait of, Great Grandpa Joseph R Burinkas. This is a member portrait from the SS Peter and Paul Society and Parish taken in 1882. The second person standing behind Joseph is, Great Grandpa Anthony M Verbis, taken in the 1930’s. The background graphic is a map of Lithuania and a watermark image of the SS Amerika passenger ship which was used to transport many Lithuanians to the states, and possibly even Anthony.

Other images: The first photo of the man who’s ice fishing is Don Verbis. The photo banner contains a picture of Chantal’s baby, Emmett. The message board banner features, Donna Walker and Andrew Verbis. And finally, the family member banner shows a picture of, David Verbis, as a little cub scout.

Emmitt is Two

Hello All!

Time for an update on our little man.:) We wanted to share Halloween and Birthday pics with everyone, for as some of you know, Emmett turned two on Saturday, November 1st!

He is growing all the time and seems to be thinning out (I know he doesn’t get that from me, hahah!) as he’s barely gained an ounce since 18 months but he sure has gained heighth! He’s around 37 inches tall and about 29-30 lbs.

He’s an awesome kid. We are so proud of him. He is talking very well now and has a ginormous vocabulary. He is also really impressing us with games like memory and matching, seek and find, etc. He counts to around 15, knows almost all of his colors, knows his basic shapes, his alphabet, and he’s even sight reading a few words! (I made flashcards with basic stuff like mom, dad, milk, juice, cat and dog–and he’s learn to recognize 3 or so of them so far!)

He’s a very polite and conscientious little man and he’s even learned to share, believe it or not, with some of his little tike buddies. All around we are so incredibly blessed to have him and it’s been an amazing journey so far.

He’s still got those hug red curls and big dimples (I know you were worried they might be gone…Haha!) and he’s quickly learning the way of the world through manipulation and strategic tantrum throwing. Here are a bunch of photos taken from Halloween and his birthday, along with a few videos from his birthday too!

Hope you enjoy and we love and miss you all!
Chantal, Carmen and Emmett

Here was Em in his Halloween gear! He went as Tigger and loved the whole experience!

Mom made birthday cake! I’m not the best cake decorator but I thought it was pretty cute!

Don’t know why (duh) I forgot to take some still pics, but I took many video clips. They were really too long to upload so I chose a few short ones. He opened many presents and this was just a little “stuffer” gift. Over the last week, Emmett has been doted upon by all for his birthday, he is so blessed! What a lucky little man. The second clip is him getting his birthday cake!:)

Emmett Update Time

Howdy friends and family! Love you all!

Time for an update on our lil punkin’.:)

He is 21.5 months old, about 35 inches tall and about 29 lbs. He is running, hopping, galloping, climbing and being a little bruiser! He loves cars and motorcycles and helping daddy in the garage, and he is getting so imaginative with his play, it is so neat to watch.:)

He counts to ten, says some ABC’s and recognizes and says the colors green, pink, purple and yellow. Sometimes red and black, although he is better with the first ones. He loves talking about colors and asks what color everything is all the time! His favorite cartoon is Dora and he loves watching monster trucks and drag racing with daddy on Sundays.:)

We have lost track of Emmett’s vocabulary because it has well surpassed the hundreds and hundreds of words! He is speaking in very long sentences at times, and then at other times, short sentences of only 2-3 words. But he has great manners and always says “please”, “thank you” and “help please” when he needs help.

He is so descriptive and quite the conversationalist! Hahah! HOWEVER the kid sure can throw a tantrum, holy MACKERAL talk about strong will lately. Like any toddler he is going through a phase where he is super picky about what he eats and drinks and he always wants his way. He is so strong willed and I just can’t imagine WHO he could have gotten that from. (HAHAHA!)

In any case he is doing wonderfully and we are overjoyed at each new day with our son. I can’t believe that in a few short months he will be two! We miss you all! Here is a bunch of pics and video for you!!!!!

Emmett Update May

It’s that time again everyone!:)

Em is just over 18 months and doing awesome.

Stats:
Weight: 29.4 ozs
Height: 34.5 inches

He is impressing us more and more each day with his language. Carmen and I have estimated that Emmett speaks about 100 or more words now. Ofcourse one of mommy and daddy’s favorite that he is using now is “rock!!!”. Heehee. He is using 2-3 word sentences like, “Bye-bye motorcycle!” or “kitty eat?” and things like “thassa big bird!” LOL.
You only have to say a word once to have him retain it’s meaning and be able to say it. Wow, to have a memory like that again! Hahahah!

He is running, jumping, going down slides on his own, and staying a very busy little boy ofcourse.:) He can now do somersaults and he loves jumping on the bed and dance to music. Haha! His favorite thing is to take walks on the trails behind our house with Carmen and I. He sings our walking song. “Walky walky walk–eeeee.”:)

His problem solving skills are really impressing me. The other day I watched him balancing a block tower so carefully (he can build them so high now!), and he’s figuring out ways to solve problems that really impress me. (Like how to carry ten thousand pine cones at once!!!) You know if things have went wrong during one of these problem solving sessions though because you’ll hear a boisterous, “OH NO!!!!!!!”

All in all we are so very proud of our little man (can’t you tell!) and his development. One of the coolest things have been his good manners. He always says thank you and even strangers are noticing my polite little man and complimenting him on it at the store. Pretty good for eighteen months!

Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve updated but I hope you will enjoy these pics in a slideshow. (Click on the link).

We love you all!
xoxo

Paul Verbis Update

Message From David Verbis:

Hello Everyone,

Paul is still in a coma. His heart rate was good, pulse and blood pressure was good. He is breathing with assistance of a respirator.

He is off the induced coma medicine. today he twitched when the neurologist pricked his nose and his eyes have fluttered but other than that there has been no response. He had very little swelling of the brain and no bleeding when they did a cat scan on him.

We do not know if Paul will ever come back from his coma so all anyone can do is pray for him at this point.

Love all David

Paul Verbis Status

Message From David Verbis:

To all,

Paul Verbis is in the CICU unit in Lansing Hospital. I have enough information to speculate that he is in serious condition existing in an induced coma on a ventilator.
While in the emergency room for sever chest and body pains Paul coded out for 18 minutes and was administered CPR, stabilized and placed on a respirator.

Only immediate family members are allowed to visit Paul at this time.
Paul is undergoing extensive testing this morning to try and determine his exact condition. I do not have an answer weather Paul will live or die, but with the information I have received from his nurse in my mind, he has a 30 to 10 percent chance of surviving this. Not good at all! The only thing that you can do is pray for Paul and be prepared for the worst, but hope he makes it.

Paul has not been conscious since Saturday I believe before he coded out.
Joe,Peter and I will be visiting Paul today and Kathy, Theresa and Mary will also be there.

Love Dave
